Alert issued after 2 liquor stores broken into, cash stolen on Northwest Side CHICAGO — Police have issued a community alert on the Northwest Side following two burglaries of liquor stores early Monday.At around 2:48 a.m., a liquor store in the 2900 block of North Central Avenue was broken into after two suspects used bold cutters and a crow bar to smash the windows, police said.Bottles and cases of alcohol were stolen along with cash from register drawers.The same thing happened at around 3:44 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Diversey, CPD said. Police: 5 people robbed in 10 minutes near University of Chicago campus The suspects are described by police as two African Americans wearing black ski masks, dark clothing , hoodies, dark blue jeans, and gloves with a skeleton design on them.Anyone with information can contact police at 312-746-7394.

Overnight fire burns east Austin apartment complex AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Fire Department says no one was hurt early Wednesday morning during a fire at a apartment complex in east-central Austin.According to AFD, the call came in at 2:19 a.m. for the fire at building 4 of the Mueller City View Apartments on Relini Street between Interstate 35 and Cameron Road. The fire was on the outside of the building and spread to the attic and one interior unit, AFD said. AFD did not have any information if anyone was displaced by the fire.The cause is under investigation. AFD says crews brought the fire under control around 2:37 a.m., 18 minutes after the call came in.
