When kids can’t play football it’s time to say enough! We’ve reached the point when this state needs to come together to fix all that’s wrong with Mass and Cass.As the Herald reported, needles, human feces and other trash that litter the 8-acre Clifford Park are the driving factor behind the increasing lack of interest from players and parents to participate in a city Pop Warner program. The park is just blocks away from Mass & Cass.Philanthropist hero Ernie Boch Jr., as we first reported, is kicking in $15,000 to rescue the upcoming season for the kids. “The situation – it’s just so difficult,” Boch said, in part. He’s one of Greater Boston’s unsung heroes who make living here a privilege. There is no easy solution to the opioid epidemic. It’s not going to help to point fingers, but when kids suffer it’s time to step up the brainstorming. Mayor Michelle Wu has an opportunity here to jump in and be a leader, but she can&...Archaeologists in Louisiana save artifacts 12,000 years old from natural disasters and looters

VERNON PARISH, La. (AP) — Long buried under the woods of west central Louisiana, stone tools, spearpoints and other evidence of people living in the area as long as 12,000 years ago have become more exposed and vulnerable, due to hurricanes, flooding and looters. This summer, archaeologists have been gingerly digging up the ground at the Vernon Parish site in the Kisatchie National Forest. They have been sifting through dirt to unearth and preserve the evidence of prehistoric occupation of the area.“The site appears to have been continuously occupied throughout prehistory, as evidenced by a wide range of stone tools and pottery dating to each Native American cultural era up to European contact,” the U.S. Forest Service said in an news release. The site was found by surveyors in 2003, according to the Forest Service. After hurricanes Laura and Delta uprooted trees, disturbing and exposing some of the artifacts, Kisatchie National Forest officials used hurricane relief money to begin ...Belarus arrests a prominent journalist in continued crackdown on dissent

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Appeals judges at the International Criminal Court ruled Tuesday that an investigation into the Philippines’ so-called “war on drugs” can resume, rejecting Manila’s objections to the case going ahead at the global court. The court’s investigation was suspended in late 2021 after the Philippines said it was already probing the same allegations and argued that the ICC — a court of last resort — therefore didn’t have jurisdiction. The Philippines launched its appeal after judges in January agreed with the court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, that deferring the investigation to Manila was “not warranted.” At the time, judges ruled that the domestic proceedings did not amount to “tangible, concrete and progressive investigative steps in a way that would sufficiently mirror the court’s investigation.”At a hearing Tuesday, Presiding Judge Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said that the five-judge appeals panel, in a majority decision, agreed and rejected the Phi...The Biden administration announces a cybersecurity labeling program for smart devices
