A new defensive tackle for the Gophers stuck around less than a week.Florida International transfer Jordan Guerad gave a verbal commitment to Minnesota last Sunday, but backed off it Saturday.“I’d like to thank Minnesota for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their program,” Guerad wrote in X. “After talking with my family we have decided to move in a different direction and de-commit.”Guerad then quickly pledged to Louisville, which is led by former Purdue coach Jeff Brohm. With the exit Guerad, a Conference USA first-team selection, Minnesota will go back to looking for a new nose tackle to help replace current senior Kyler Baugh. More than a year before Hamas killed some 1,200 residents of Israel and kidnapped more than 200, Israeli intelligence officers reportedly learned about plans for the attack in extraordinary detail but couldn’t convince their leaders to take preventative action. How could a world-class security apparatus so badly underestimate one of its most dedicated adversaries? As leaders become more insular and closed-minded, the quality of their information and decisions deteriorates. When security is on the line, the results can be tragic.Benjamin Netanyahu’s secretive, ideologically rigid leadership style in that way helped undermine Israel’s security and imperil his people. He isn’t the first such world leader whose miscalculations led to such a disaster.George W. Bush’s administration was another infamous example. His cadre of top advisers on national security, including Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, believed the country’...Zach Gottlieb: Listen up. My revelation came in the spring, after a typical day in 11th-grade AP English. The topic was gender and how the experiences of the authors we were studying related to our world today. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear anything I hadn’t heard many times before.Class discussions tend to go like that. We’ve been inculcated with approved positions on issues such as gender identity, patriarchy, cultural appropriation and microaggressions. Any perceived misstep can ruin a reputation in a flash. But then something unusual happened. After the period ended, someone floated an opinion that, if shared in the classroom, would have elicited a clanging silence. Hesitantly at first, we found ourselves having a genuine discussion, the air crackling with competing ideas that made the moment feel almost transgressive. I left with more questions than answers, which is how learning should be.That’s when I had my revelation: Just when my friends and I should be trying out many perspec...12/17/2023: Powerful Storm Closing In

Published Sat, 09 Nov 2024 18:14:39 GMT
ST. LOUIS -- You might be merging incorrectly on the highway if you aren't following these rules. The standard for merging dictates that those attempting to enter the highway do not have the right of way. Instead, they must match the flow of traffic and merge without causing disruptions to existing highway traffic.According to Wichita Police, while the blue arrow (the highway user) is courteous, the red arrow (the mergeer) must surrender and merge safely.Merging occurs when two or more traffic flows of moving cars combine into a single flow. This commonly happens when lanes from different roads or routes intersect or when an on-ramp joins the main road. When cars merge, drivers need to adjust their speed and position to align with the traffic flow.In a merging scenario involving two cars, the vehicle already on the main road typically has the right of way. Drivers entering from an on-ramp or merge lane usually yield to cars already in the main flow of traffic.State Farm provides a 1...The Top Three “Sleepytime” Cannabinoids

SAN JOSE — Four years ago, Nikita Garcia was living in a tent off Senter Road so close to the railroad tracks — for so long — that she didn’t even notice the trains rumble by anymore. No matter which way she walked to the bus stop, drug dealers lured her with methamphetamines to dull her miseries. She had already lost custody of her two older children — both were adopted by others — and now she was pregnant with a third.Santa Clara County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services referred Garcia to a nonprofit organization called Parisi House on the Hill in South San Jose. It’s the same program that once took in Emily De La Cerda, the San Jose mom whose frequent encounters with the child protection agency are at the center of a scandal over the fentanyl-related death of her 3-month-old, Phoenix Castro. The program offers drug counseling and parenting classes to help drug- and alcohol-addicted mothers become responsible, nurturing parents. The program, the only one of ...Latest line: A good week for renewable energy companies, a bad week for Elon Musk
